QUTies beat the world
Ok, maybe not, but they did get the bronze medal in division 2 at uni games. Not since, well ever, has QUT done so well. Some people have suggested that it is the first time in many years that neither Jangles or I was involved, so success was a sure thing, but I disagree.
They were beaten by a New Zealand team (even though it says AUSTRALIAN uni games, geez guys get your own competition), and what looked like a hybrid team (how was that legal?). So pretty much, QUT won div 2.
Reece Stewart apparently came second in MVP voting (first loser Reece, how do you feel?), while James Hood was named "most stupid looking player". True.
Just plain Awesomeness!!!
With the wrap up of the season QUTies were left with an empty trophy cabinet, again. I place the blame Ben for not being able to catch a disc thrown by an Australian. Lets hope those Canadians throw them backwards so he can't drop them.
Despite his many drops and what i believe mas some mass delusion(and probably many sexual favors) Ben was named as the Div 2 MVP.
Now i can retire happy after taking out the DIV 1 MVP. I would like to thank the ABC for putting spicks and specks on wednesday nights so i could play on mondays, Nomis boots it is my hope if i promote them enough to get sponsored and finaly all those people who voted for my awesomeness.
Mediocrity, Awesomeness and Pretty Okay.
It has been brought to my attention that over the past few months, a worrying trend of mediocrity has been finding its way onto this very website. Now although, in the past mediocrity has been somewhat of a trend as such for QUT Ultimate, it is with great relief that I announce it to be a problem of the past.
Monday night saw the conclusion of the pool games, and with it a victory to a highly underrated Quties team. With this victory we can unofficially claim our first winning season, research has indicated that this is perhaps a result of star recruit Johnny mac. However, at this point in time this research has proven inconclusive, and for John to confirm the research, he will be required to play next season with the Quties.
Aside from our general radial awesomeness, I am unable to elaborate further on the successes of the team, as unfortunately I still don’t really know what’s going on. But from what I can gather, aside from Ben (obviously, and also the author of many mediocre posts) we did pretty okay.
Now all of you support your local uni games team. Just Frisbee though (sorry Cadi, although seriously basketball at uni games, seems odd to me). And just QUT (including John).
Cougars maul the QUTies
Haha, I'm getting the hang of this title stuff.
First of all, well done to everyone for tonight's game (for interested readers, we went down by 1). Our flow in attack is quite impressive, and the points we scored came about as a result of good, hard running. Special mention tonight to James and Michael for their hard running. Kudos to Matt and Stef for coming to support the team, even though they were on their death bed.
So I don't overload you, let's take two things out of tonight's game to improve on:
Attack: As John said, be confident in your cuts. There were too many hesitant cuts, where we would take 3 steps forward, and then decide that we couldn't get the disc. Keep running, and you'll beat your man.
Defence: We will need to work on this on the weekend. If we are running a fence (and hot tip, we normally are because I like having someone on the mark), then the other 3 people are in a line sloping slightly upfield the way that the mark is forcing. There were quite a few double teams tonight.
In other news, Dean has lost a leg, so he should be out for 1 week, and I have had to have my hand amputated. We have an impressive injured list at the moment:
Dean- dodgy knee
Stef- Breast implant recovery
Matt- dodgy knee (same as Dean, they were doing something weird in bed together, so they have the same injury)
Ben- Dodgy wrist (probably the most serious of the lot, but I battled on regardless. The Courier Mail has called it 'The most inspirational moment in sport').
As always, read and comment.
P.S. After many complaints, I feel that I should report that we won our last game 10-6. I was busy during the week guys, geez.
